The current seeks the path of least resistance to ground, which is typically through the motor bearings. These current pulses often build up and spark through the bearings, which in turn damages them causing excessive noise, vibration and premature failure.

Acme Armature Works Inc. of Sheboygan, Wis. is set to make its first-ever appearance at the Sheboygan County Chamber of Commerce Business Expo Monday, April 16 at the Blue Harbor Conference Center in Sheboygan.

The popular business expo event, which runs from 3-7 p.m., will showcase many of the area’s top companies in a wide variety of fields and areas of expertise. The biennial event drew over 500 people to the Blue Harbor Conference Center in 2016.

The Acme Armature Works Inc. booth will include electric and servo motor displays, as well as samples of services and repair work, along with an array of promotional materials.

“We will have an electric motor on display and several samples of what we do related to servo motor service and repairs,” Acme Armature Works Inc. Owner Chad Bahrs said. “We will have plenty of brochures and flyers showcasing our various repair services.

“This is the first time we’ve done a show like this, so I am looking forward to the opportunity to get out and showcase what we do and possibly meet some new people that are looking for a place to take their electric and servo motors for repairs,” he said. “It should be a lot of fun.”

“We have only been around for a year and half as Acme Armature Works, so there are a lot of people that are not familiar with us yet,” Bahrs said. “It is always nice to meet people in person and build up a relationship. We are trying to spread the word about what we do and the type of shop we run, and this is a great opportunity for us to do that.”

Since joining the Sheboygan County Chamber of Commerce last year, Bahrs has been impressed with the level of support he has received as a new business owner.

“The chamber has been great to work with,” Bahrs said. “They helped us with our open house and ribbon cutting last June and have been very supportive ever since we joined. I expect the business expo will be a first-class event, just like everything else the chamber does in the area.”

Acme Armature Works Inc. has an immediate opening for a full-time, flexible first-shift electric motor repair technician.

Regular job duties include repairing, positioning, installing, connecting and testing a variety of electrical and mechanical systems, in addition to troubleshooting and repairing industrial machinery (gear reducers, submersible and inline pumps, etc.) and associated equipment in our repair shop, or in the field in a customer’s manufacturing environment.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

·         Perform minor and major repair of all electric motors and related equipment

·         Perform preventative maintenance procedures on equipment, including but not limited to, PM’s vibration analysis, balancing, shaft alignment, inspecting belts, checking fluid levels, replacing filters, greasing bearings etc. on a scheduled basis.

·         Repair or replace broken parts

·         Diagnose and troubleshoots electrical circuits

·         Cross train and work closely with team members

·         Provide flexibility in shift coverage

·         Must be willing to take calls off shift on a rotating basis, we offer 24-hr service

Job Requirements:

·       A minimum of 2 years electric motor repair, rewind, electro-mechanical or industrial maintenance experience or an associate degree in electricity or electro-mechanics preferred.

·       Industrial mechanical and electrical experience preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

·      Good working knowledge in the use of various tools equipment and test equipment, including multimeters, insulation resistance meters, electric motor analyzers (hipot and surge tester), oscilloscope, measuring devices (micrometers, precision indicators), equipment and basic computer knowledge.

·      Good math/measuring, communication, mechanical and organizational skills.

·      Ability to work in a team environment or independently, read and follow detailed instructions, think and react quickly to troubleshoot daily issues.

Additional Skills Desired:

·      Knowledge of OSHA and safe work practices

·      Knowledge of current NEC

·      Knowledge of electrical test equipment

·      Knowledge/training on dynamic balancing and vibration analysis equipment

·      Servo motors, drives, spindles, PLCs

Physical Requirements

·      Able to lift up to 55 pounds

·      Ability to stand and walk for full shift
